Your Body's defence system

Alnog many modan higways strong barriers have been custructed as a protection against cars that go  out of control. some of these surround the trunks of tree  which grow beside the road . some are built to separate trafiic moving in opposite direction .

The human body has barries which protect id form the onslaught of germs that are  every where  present in our enviromental. these  are not made of wood or steel or 8chain-link fence; they are effective,nevertheless,as they stand guard to preseve the individual's health.

In oreder to develop an illustration that will help you grasp the importance of these unseen defences against germs ,let me amplify  the reference just made to barries along the highway.

Body's protective system 

In this fabulous system of protection, the main fence along the highway represents  the body's skin with its ability to resist the penetration of germs into the underlyring tissues the wreckers  and private police are the leucocytes(white blood cells) which move from place to place throughout the body and have the capacity to engulf germs and viruses and even destoy some of them .the private wrecking yard in which invading vehicls are dismembered,typifies the body's lymphoid tissue ,ncluding the lymph nodes and spleen,in which there is provision for detainging and destroying disease-producing germs.the fencebuilding crew represents the automatic tissue response that "walls off' an infected area by building a layer of dense tissue which is relatively impervious to the passing of germs and thus helps to perevent the spread of local infection .the police dogs with a memory suggest the mysterious antibodies wich are custombuilt with in the body to aid in combating unfriendly organism.

In some cases antibodies so not destroy the germs ,but have the ability to identify them in a way that makes them susceptible to destruction,furthermore ,whn a new kind of germs or virus,such as the virus that cause chicken -pox ,enters the body and cause an illness,antibodies are produces in such abundance that some are lefte over after te invaders are destroyes ,they rember this particular kind of germ or cirus,as it were ,and stand ready to fight it do death without giving it a chance to cause the same illness a second time.
